ICUT

The initial training for all CAP personnel using CAP radios is the Introductory Communications User’s Training (ICUT).  This course replaced both the Basic Communications User training (BCUT) and the Advanced Communication Users training (ACUT), which are no longer taught. ICUT is offered online and includes several segments of produced video instruction. Subsequent skills evaluation by a mentor/evaluator is also required. The only prerequisites for ICUT are being an active CAP cadet or senior member, as defined by CAPR 39-2, Civil Air Patrol Membership, and completion of OPSEC training, which is part of Level One training.

To get to ICUT training:
1) Log onto eServices, and click the "Learning Management System" tab on the left.
2) Click the ICUT link under Communications

- Complete the 2 videos and review quizzes for OP1.  Also complete the final exam.  The passing score is 80%.
- Complete the 6 videos and review quizzes for T1.  Also complete a hands-on evaluation within 180 days of completing T1.
- Complete the 2 videos and review quizzes for OP2.  Also complete a hands-on evaluation within 180 days of completing OP2.

As a result of these changes, several communications regulations have been changed, making previous versions obsolete:
CAPR 100-1 (Radio Communications Management)
CAPP 214 (Communications Officer Specialty Track Guide)
CAPF 105 (Radio Message Form)
CAPF 110 (Communications Log)

(These documents can be downloaded from the "Forms" tab).
